Wandering through the Mitte district in Berlin (an old part of what is now downtown and was formerly East Berlin) reveals many physical marks from the city’s turbulent past which contrast the relaxed and eclectic social atmosphere felt today. I’m searching for a better term but bitter-sweet is the best way I can describe the vibe felt around here. That contrast is powerful.
